Progressive lenses, this is a design of lens that accommodates a “progressive” change in power from the centre of where the pupil is located to an intermediate power in the middle, for “computer or arms length” vision to the reading area near the nasal bottom of the lens. This lens is recommended for computer use. Or for those who use their glasses every day.

This is a coating applied to the front and back layer of a lens in many coatings. this coating reduces the reflection that you see, as well as the reflection of light that others can see on your lenses. An anti-reflective coating is hydrophobic coatings keep rain, snow and fog at bay. It improves vision in night driving and while looking at a computer screen. Space Optical has available different brands of coating, such as Crizal eyeglass lense coatings, and Nikon Canada, along with other brands.
No eyeglass lenses — not even glass lenses — are scratch-proof. However, lenses that are treated front and back with a clear, scratch-resistant coating have a much harder surface that is more resistant to scratching, All lenses with Anti-reflective coating also automatically come with an scratch-resistant hard coat. However this coating can also be applied to lenses that do not have the anti reflective.
Ultra violet coating t blocks UV ultraviolet light. UV-protective treatments for eyeglass lenses block the damaging wavelength of rays from your eyes. Overexposure to ultraviolet light is thought to be a cause of cataracts, and retinal damage. CR-39 plastic lenses block most UV light, but adding a UV-blocking dye boosts UV protection to 100 percent for added safety. Lens materials, such as high-index plastics, have 100 percent UV protection built-in. UV coating is clear, and can be applied to plastic lenses.
Transitions lenses change color according to lighting conditions. It is a chemical process in the lens material that gets darker when exposed to UV light and turns clear when you come indoors. At Space Optical Oakville we carry official “transitions” lenses.
A Polaroid lens is a laminated lens that blocks glare. It comes in brown or gray. When sunlight reflects off a horizontal surface it becomes concentrated. This causes the phenomenon of glare. Polarized sunglasses lenses block glare and only allow vertical light to pass through to reach your eyes. Polaroid lenses are ideal for when you are on the water, snow, or intense sunlight.
